Blocked Drains Artarmon

This is a leafy Lower North Shore suburb known for its intact Federation and Californian bungalow streets, sitting alongside a busy industrial and media precinct.

The East Artarmon conservation area is the heart of the old housing stock. Double-brick homes from the 1910s to 1930s line streets like Artarmon Road and Muttama Road, most still under their original red or brown tiled roofs.

That vintage means original clay drainage. Homes here were laid with earthenware pipe before 1940, and a century underground has left plenty of it cracked at the joints.

Mature street trees along those same conservation-area blocks do the rest. Roots find every hairline crack in old clay and work their way in, which is why root-clogged lines are such a steady call-out in this pocket.

Newer infill near the station and the northern border sits on younger pipe, so it's mostly the pre-war streets doing the blocking. We check the pipe material on arrival so the fix matches the actual problem, not a guess.
